The Home Upgrade Grant Phase 2 (HUG2) is open to home-owners and private tenants in:
- Homes not heated by mains gas which includes oil, coal, LPG or only electric heating.
AND
- Households with a combined annual income of less than £36,000 gross OR receiving certain income-related means-tested benefits such as Universal Credit OR you live in an area of Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD). We can check this once you enter your postcode.
AND
- Hard to heat homes – this is based on your home Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). You will be helped with this part of the assessment and receive a free EPC assessment if you do not have one already.
AND
- Homes within the following local authority areas: Ashford Borough Council, Bedford Borough, Bracknell Forest, Braintree, Brentwood Borough Council, Broxbourne Borough, Buckinghamshire Council, Canterbury City Council, Castle Point, Chelmsford, Colchester, Dacorum Borough, East Herts District Council, Epping Forest, Folkestone & Hythe District Council, Gravesham Borough Council, Harlow, Hart District Council, Havering, Hertsmere Borough, Maidstone Borough Council, Maldon, Medway Council, Milton Keynes, North Hertfordshire District, North Northamptonshire, Oxford City Council, Reading, Rochford, Slough, Southend on Sea, St Albans City & District, Stevenage Borough, Sutton, Swale Borough Council, Tendring, Thanet District Council, Thurrock, Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council and Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, Uttlesford District, Welwyn Hatfield Borough, West Berkshire, West Northamptonshire, Windsor & Maidenhead, Wokingham
What is Home Upgrade Grant – Phase 2 (HUG2)?
Home Upgrade Grant Phase 2 is a Government-funded local authority scheme for those properties that are off gas heating. The scheme is to deliver energy-saving improvements to the homes of people who struggle to pay their heating bills and keep their homes warm in the winter. These improvements are made free of charge and will help residents to keep their homes warm while using less energy and help them to manage their heating bills.
If you own your own home, or are a tenant, or a private landlord with tenants, you could qualify to apply for energy-saving improvements. Please note that if your home is rented, both tenant and landlord will need to give their approval before any energy-saving improvements can be carried out. Click here to find out more.
