What energy-saving upgrades could I get for my home?

There are a number of measures which may be suitable depending on your property:

  • Insulation and ventilation upgrades to keep your home comfortable in both the winter and summer and help cut your energy bills
  • An upgrade to a low carbon heating system to cut your carbon emissions (Please note the new heating system to be installed cannot be a gas or oil boiler.)
  • Heating Controls that help save you money because you only use the heat when you need it
  • Energy-efficient hot water systems to keep your water warmer for longer and save you money
  • Solar PV to generate free electricity

How do I qualify?

The Home Upgrade Grant Phase 2 (HUG2) is open to home-owners and private tenants in:

  • Homes not heated by mains gas which includes oil, coal, LPG or only electric heating.

AND

  • Households with a combined annual income of less than £36,000 gross OR receiving certain income-related means-tested benefits such as Universal Credit OR you live in an area of Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD). You can check your postcode below:

AND

  • Hard to heat homes – this is based on your home Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). You will be helped with this part of the assessment and receive a free EPC assessment if you do not have one already.

AND

  • Within the following local authority areas:  Ashford Borough Council, Bedford Borough, Bracknell Forest, Braintree, Brentwood Borough Council, Broxbourne Borough, Buckinghamshire Council, Canterbury City Council, Castle Point, Chelmsford, Colchester, Dacorum Borough, East Herts District Council, Epping Forest, Folkestone & Hythe District Council, Gravesham Borough Council, Harlow, Hart District Council, Havering, Hertsmere Borough, Maidstone Borough Council, Maldon, Medway Council, Milton Keynes, North Hertfordshire District, North Northamptonshire, Oxford City Council, Reading, Rochford, Slough, Southend on Sea, St Albans City & District, Stevenage Borough, Sutton, Swale Borough Council, Tendring, Thanet District Council, Thurrock, Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council and Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, Uttlesford District, Welwyn Hatfield Borough, West Berkshire, West Northamptonshire, Windsor & Maidenhead, Wokingham
